About
I am a recent graduate from UC Santa Barbara with a double major in Film and Media Studies and History. During my time at UCSB I worked on a wide variety of video and film projects with fellow students and business partners, growing quickly into a network I’m constantly trying to build up. This past year, I was suddenly dragged into sports videography, a field I did not originally think I would have ended up in. The best thing that could have happened to me this year was becoming part of the video team at UCSB Athletics. My skill set expanded in ways I could not have imagined and simply through trial and error after being out on dozens of shoots I grew not only as a videographer, but as a person as well. It sounds cliche, but through the process of constantly being around athletes and interacting with them on a daily basis, my social skills improved.
In addition to the benefits of working with UCSB Athletics, I realized the importance of audio and lighting; two things I had not paid much attention to until this year. After working on several student projects at UCSB, other individuals began to take notice of my work. At this point, I began working with a very talented student from Brooks Institute in Ventura who has taught me so much about lighting. My confidence as well as my lighting skills improved by leaps and bounds and I am now at the level where I am the one being called to help light a scene instead of the other way around.
With a new life ahead of me, I am open to living anywhere and am not looking to be tied down by lengthy commitments. The reason I say this is not because I am not willing to commit; I am not willing to lose out on opportunities presented to me that I would not be able to take part in if I was to be working full time at one specific company. Because of this, my ultimate goal is to either work for an independent production company as a cinematographer/editor that is involved in a wide variety of video production or start my own production business.
I still consider myself a budding videographer and photographer looking to gain more experience in all fields of filmmaking and videography, providing individuals and businesses with high quality work. Videography wise, I specialize in sports, documentary type promotions, commercials, short films, and nature. On the photography side, I’ve moved into portraits but enjoy nature and landscape shooting the most. I also have taken part in wedding videography and photography.
